Running a podcast seems as easy as doing a live broadcast/live stream, right? There’s a bit of planning that you should put in:
- First, decide on the format for your show (solo–informational, interview guests with a team member, etc.);
- Figure out what day of the week you’ll upload your episodes, and what time, but the time should be based on EST (Eastern Standard Time).
- Choose a theme for your brand;
- Design the main show promotional graphic;
- Design the graphic for each episode & decide if you’re going to show the guest’s photo;
- Design whether or not to have guest promotional graphics;
- Before your first recording, choose a podcast host. There are quite a few companies to choose from. Don’t just go for price; you have to consider storage space limits for your recordings, editing capabilities, ease of publishing & scheduling, etc.
Still sounds easy?
Time to promote your show!
- Social media – what days & how often; which platforms;
- Social media – SEO and hashtags to grab attention of Google, Bing, and other search engines;
- YouTube – cross-promotion; video short(s);
- Newsletter – how often, are you putting a link to your channel in your newsletter;
- Print – i.e., business card, flyer, etc., press releases?
